Where: Courses → "New course"
- Click "Courses" in the sidebar, then click "New course".
- On the "Let's set up a course" screen, pick the card that matches what you're building: "A qualification", "A skill set", "A single unit", or "A short course or workshop".
- For the nationally recognised options, type the code or name (for example CPP41419) and pick the right result from the training.gov.au search list.
- On the "Looks right?" screen, check the prefilled title. You can shorten it — training.gov.au titles can be wordy.
- Click "Continue".
- For a qualification or skill set, you'll see "Import all units for [course name]?". Click "Yes, import all N units" to pull the full unit list in one go, or "I'll add units manually" to skip.
- You land on the course workspace. From here you add unit content and set up deliveries.
For a short course or workshop there's no training.gov.au lookup — type a "Title" and click "Continue".
What happens next
The course starts as a draft with a draft delivery created for you. Students can't see or enrol in anything until you set up and publish a delivery.
You build each unit's learner guide and assessment once in Unit content — that content lives in your library and is shared by every course that uses the unit, so you're never rewriting it per course. See the getting-started guide for the full path.
