About this course

This unit teaches you how to plan and carry out work at heights safely in resource and infrastructure industries. You will learn to identify fall hazards, select and fit the right personal protective equipment, use anchor points and fall-arrest systems correctly, and follow emergency and rescue procedures. The focus is practical — understanding what can go wrong at heights and taking the right steps before, during, and after the work. This unit suits people working or looking to work in construction, civil infrastructure, mining, or utilities who need to access elevated areas as part of their job. If you are new to working at heights or need to refresh and formalise your existing knowledge with a nationally recognised unit of competency, this training is a practical fit. After completing this unit, you will be able to assess a site for height-related risks, choose and inspect appropriate fall-protection equipment, set up safe work systems, and respond to an emergency at height. These are skills that apply directly on the job, from roof work and elevated platforms to scaffolding and structures across a range of outdoor and industrial settings.
