This bundle covers two units of competency that are widely used across civil construction and materials handling work. You will learn to safely operate a civil construction excavator, including planning and preparing for operations, controlling the machine during digging, trenching, and grading tasks, and completing all required post-operational checks. You will also learn to operate a telescopic materials handler, covering load assessment, attachment use, travelling with loads, and placing materials in varied site conditions. Both units address hazard identification, environmental controls, and the documentation that operators are expected to complete on site.
This combination suits people who are entering the civil construction or resources sectors, or experienced workers looking to formalise their skills across two pieces of plant. If you are already operating one of these machines and want to add the other to your tickets, the bundle structure makes that straightforward to manage.
After completing both units you will be able to demonstrate competency in operating an excavator and a telescopic materials handler to the national standard set out in the RII Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package. This opens up a broader range of on-site roles where both machines are commonly used together, such as civil earthworks, infrastructure maintenance, and construction logistics.
