HLTAID011 Provide First Aid teaches you how to recognise and respond to a range of medical emergencies and injuries in the workplace or community. You will learn to manage an unconscious casualty, perform CPR on adults, children and infants, use an automated external defibrillator (AED), control bleeding, treat burns, manage suspected fractures and sprains, and respond to allergic reactions including anaphylaxis. Training covers both the practical skills and the decision-making needed to act confidently before professional help arrives.
This course suits anyone who needs a current first aid certificate for work, whether that is a legal or employer requirement or simply good practice. It is also a practical choice for parents, carers, coaches, teachers, and community volunteers who want to be prepared to help in an emergency. No prior first aid knowledge or health background is needed to enrol.
Once you have completed the course, you will be able to assess an emergency scene, prioritise care, carry out a structured primary survey using DRSABCD, and provide first aid for common conditions until ambulance or medical services take over. Your certificate meets the nationally recognised standard for first aid competency in Australia and is typically valid for three years, with CPR components recommended for annual renewal.
