About this course
This unit covers the skills and knowledge you need to safely and competently operate a dozer in civil construction environments. You will learn how to plan and prepare for dozer work, carry out bulk earthmoving and spreading tasks, manage the machine on slopes and in varying ground conditions, and complete operational shut-down procedures. The unit also addresses hazard identification, environmental controls, and the documentation you are expected to complete on a civil construction site.
This training suits people working in, or looking to move into, civil construction roles that involve earthmoving plant. It is particularly relevant if you already spend time on site and want to formalise your dozer operation skills with a nationally recognised unit of competency.
After completing this unit you will be able to plan a dozer task from pre-start checks through to shut-down, operate the machine to grade, push, and spread material to specification, identify and respond to site hazards, and meet the reporting requirements typical of civil construction projects.
