Ask a student to resubmit an assessment

Where: Trainer portal → "Marking Queue" → "Mark"

  1. Open the attempt from "Marking Queue" and review each answer as usual.
  2. Press "Needs Work" on every question the student has to fix. Press "Satisfactory" on the ones that are fine.
  3. For each "Needs Work" question, press "Add feedback (optional)" and tell the student exactly what to improve. You can't submit a not-yet-competent outcome without feedback on those questions.
  4. Under "Outcome", press "Not yet competent".
  5. In the "NYC — Feedback for student" box, write your overall feedback — what needs to improve across the attempt.
  6. Next to "Resubmit by:", pick a date. This is the deadline the student sees.
  7. Press "Submit Judgement", then sign the assessor declaration and press "Sign & submit".

What happens next The student sees your feedback and can update only the answers you marked "Needs Work" — answers that passed stay locked. When they resubmit, the attempt returns to your "Pending" tab with an attempt badge (for example "#2") and an amber banner reading "Fresh submission to mark".

If something looks wrong If the student says they can't resubmit, they may have used all their attempts. Open the attempt — the page shows the attempt limit and lets you grant an extra attempt with a reason.
